With the publication of our esssay collection Poetics of Politics. Textuality and Social Relevance in Contemporary American Literature and Culture in summer 2015 we completed a joint research project that began in 2011.
A collaboration of colleagues at Leipzig University and TU Dresden, the project included successful applications for external funding, the essay collection Participating Audiences, Imagined Public Spheres, the international symposium "Poetics of Politics" held at Leipzig in June 2013, a panel on "Fandom and the Public Sphere. Textuality, Affect, and Social Relevance" at the 2014 annual meeting of the American Studies Association, as well as numerous conference contributions and individual publications by the initiative's participants. We worked with colleagues in our fields throughout Germany and the US and are looking forward to future collaboration.
Our initiative has completed this set of projects on textuality and social issues in contemporary US literature and culture but the group will continue to work together in related fields. Future joint projects will be announced here and via our institutional and individual web presences.
